Introducing My Sisters Keeper

"My Sister's Keeper" by: Jodi Picoult is about Anna, a 13 year old girl, that is about to donate a kidney to her sister who is suffering from acute promyelocytic leukemia. The problem with this idea is that the doctors have told Anna that it requires major surgery and that its not 100% that its going to work. It's also known that even if this surgery works for her sister, it may bring health problems later on. Anna is also trying to make a lawsuit so that she doesn't need to give up her kidney like her parents are telling her to because she wants to have the rights to her own body and to do what she wants with it. Anna isn't refusing to give up a kidney because she is selfish though, she is refusing to do it because she had already undergone numerous surgeries to try to cure her sister. Anna feels as if her mother almost neglects her and what she wants because shes so focused on her sister so her healthy daughter isn't always on her mind.
